Boarding & Grooming
Boarding
When traveling for business or taking your family on vacation, you have so much to do and enough stress without having to worry about who is going to take care of your beloved animal companion. Rather than impose on a neighbor or rely on a non-professional pet sitter with little animal care training, Wilmington Animal Hospital can provide your pet with a safe, comfortable and fun place to stay while you are away.
Wilmington Animal Hospital strives to meet the highest standards of boarding care that have been established by the American Boarding Kennel Association, and are continually updated by numerous professional and humane organizations.
However, the basis by which we judge our care is if it meets our high standards for how we would want our own pets treated. This means that our boarding facility is not only safe, clean and comfortable, but we enjoy spoiling our guests just a little bit with premium pet foods, biscuits, chewies, toys, and lots of play time.
While our boarding accommodations are first class, Wilmington Animal Hospital only boards our clients' pets. This means that your pets are overseen by their usual veterinarian during their stay, and we minimize the risk of bringing in a contagious pet. In addition, our building is occupied 24 hours a day, adding an extra layer of safety to your pet's stay.
Our boarding facility is temperature controlled in both the cat and dog areas. Dogs are housed in stainless steel cages and have access to large runs, plenty of outside exercise time in our play yard, and are given treats and lots of TLC. Dogs that stay with us two or more nights also receive a complimentary bath prior to going home.
Cats are kept in our special kitty lounge in spacious cages that offer plenty of room for a bed, litter box, and hideout with space left over. Cats are let out in the kitty lounge separately so they can play, climb or relax in our large picture window that looks out on bird feeders.
Food
We feed all of our guests premium pet foods, canned and dry, and stock a variety of options for finicky eaters. We also allow clients to bring their pet's preferred diet in with them and have a freezer and refrigerator for raw foods and home-prepared foods.
Vaccines
Because all of our guests are current patients of Wilmington Animal Hospital, your veterinarian will have documented your pet's recommended course of vaccines. We do require that all cats and dogs have successfully completed their initial puppy and kitten vaccine series, as recommended by their Wilmington Animal Hospital veterinarian.
Reservations
We do ask that you make a reservation prior to your pet's stay. This is especially important when seeking boarding over a holiday.
Grooming
Grooming is currently unavailable at Wilmington Animal Hospital.
