My Experience with Raw Diets

I started feeding my Scotties a raw diet almost 10 years ago and would never return to feeding a processed, canned diet. The old saying, "garbage in, garbage out" applies here and another adage, "we are what we eat" is certainly apropos as well. My dogs have thrived on raw food. They are energetic, smell good, have "kissing sweet breath" and, most of all, would never miss a meal.

I have learned that dogs do not have the ability to digest a diet heavy in grains and carbohydrates, which is exactly what most people feed  today. The canine species evolved and survived on raw foods, so why feed a processed, commercial diet with questionable ingredients?

I have become convinced, after seeing how my Scotties (and other friends' dogs) have thrived on a raw food diet, that a raw, meaty bone diet is the best way to feed a carnivore. We see what poor diet has led to in the human world -obesity, diabetes, and other chronic health problems. Is the canine world any different? (Top)
