Diagnostic Ultrasounds in Wilmington
Ultrasounds performed by a board-certified radiologist are important tools in providing accurate diagnoses and treatment plans for our patients. We are fortunate to be able to offer this service at Wilmington Animal Hospital once a week. Dr. Hadley Bagshaw VMD, DACVR joins us on Fridays to offer advanced imaging services to our patients as well as patients from referring hospitals. Foremost among these services is abdominal ultrasound, which is used to diagnose such conditions as:
- Cancer
- Bladder Stones
- Foreign Bodies
- Gastroenteritis
- Pancreatitis
- Hepatitis
- Kidney Disease
- Prostatitis
In addition to the abdomen, dog and cat ultrasounds can be used to assess musculoskeletal issues (tendon or muscle injuries, swollen joints, soft tissue tumors, etc), non-cardiac thoracic disease (peripheral lung tumors, intra-thoracic fluid, abscesses, etc), neck ultrasound (thyroid/parathyroid masses, enlarged cervical lymph nodes, etc) or ocular and peri-ocular ultrasound (tumors within the eye, detached retinas, etc). To schedule an ultrasound, WAH clients can just call us at (302) 762-2694 or email our reception staff to schedule an appointment. Referral clients should call to schedule an appointment. A copy of the pet’s medical records needs to be emailed to reception@wilmingtonanimalhospital.com at least 24 hours prior to the appointment and a deposit is required. The ultrasound report will be emailed to the referring veterinarian for follow up care as soon as it is available.
