At Wilmington Animal Hospital, our emergency vets strive to see all of our own patients when they encounter an emergency situation during our regular office hours. We ask that you call before bringing your pet to us, so we may properly prepare for his or her arrival. If we do not have an available appointment and you feel that your pet is in need of urgent care, we will have our technicians triage your pet. This process allows us to decide if your pet is in immediate danger and needs to be attended to by a doctor right away, or if your pet can wait for an available appointment.
We are not a 24-hour care hospital, so there are times at which we may recommend transfer of your pet to a hospital that can provide on-going and overnight stabilization and care. This decision will be made based upon your pet’s health condition and stability, your doctor’s recommendation, and your wishes for your pet’s care.
