A Dignified and Peaceful End

At Wilmington Animal Hospital, we strongly believe in a dignified and peaceful end of life for our patients.  We take the euthanasia process very seriously and strive to make it as stress-free and positive as it can possibly be.

We understand that deciding upon euthanasia is not easy and our doctors and staff are happy to discuss each individual pet’s situation.  We know that there are a lot of emotions – fear, pain, guilt, sadness, and relief – associated with the loss of a pet.  Our goal is to help our clients to get through the process and feel that they made the right decision for their pet.

We care deeply for our patients and want to be sure that their final moments are comfortable, low-stress, and dignified.  Our doctors and staff will do everything we can to provide them with comforts such as cozy blankets, treats, peanut butter bones, chin and head scratches, and soothing words.

The euthanasia procedure is done at a pace that dictated by the patient and client.  We administer sedatives and limit restraint as much as possible.  We do not take our patients away from their owners unless requested to by the client.

We offer cremation services through Delaware Pet Cremations.  Should you want your pet’s ashes returned to you, the staff of Delaware Pet Cremations will contact you about all of your memorial options.
